Fourpoint by Sheraton Kuta - Sneak Preview

As I was in Bali end of May-2015, I was wondering where the Fourpoint by Sheraton Kuta location is.   The hotel will be opened on 15-Jul-2015 as stated in the website.   I believe it will open on the date as I have seen the hotel is already completed and some "trials" stay are happening.

The hotel is inside the small alley.     You need to walk about 10 minutes in the small alley to get to the beach.   This does not mean the hotel's location is not good.   It is quite walking distance to beach,  Beach Walk (the shopping mall) also to Legian area, which there are many shops and restaurants and pubs at night.

I think the hotel they cannot sell on beach view, as there is no such view and hence they created a lagoon concepts which I think quite nice.  However, with the sister hotel, Sheraton Kuta, just 5 minutes away (same complex with Beach Walk),  I think it will really boilt down to the room rate, at least for me.

These pictures were taken from the side of the hotels.   You probably notice also these are the view from outside the room, i.e. corridors.

Here is the pictures inside the hotel which I managed to take.   I like the open concept and high ceilings of the lobby.   I guess the property is aware that they are lack of beach touch and come up with nice lagoon concept.   All the room will have lagoon view.

I have noticed that there was some activities in the hotel.   I saw housekeeping on the day team when I took the photos.   So I guess they were doing some trial stays.   So I guess the hotel will open tomorrow  (15-Jul-2015) for business as stated in the website.

It looks nice property althought it is inside the small alley and not very near to beach.   I think with the big sister just a stone away (and with beter location), the rate will definitly be the determining factors, at least for me.   I will defenitly like to try this hotel hopefully in the near future.

Mercure Legian Bali

On my recent Bali trip (22-26 May 2015), I passed by Mecure Legian which is located not so far away from Pullman Legian.  About 5-10 minutes walk.   This is also means that the hotel is about 5-10 minutes walk to Kuta Beach (at the end of Jalan Pantai Kuta).   The hotel located at the corner of Legian and Melasti.

I like the design of the hotel with "stick out" Balcony.

The hotel has the hanging pool which is at the top of the main hotel entrance.

As I did not stay there, I cannot take the pictures of the room.   Some rooms seem have big balcony.

Personally, I think this is a very interesting hotel to stay and probably value for money.   I will probably stay in this hotel on my next stay in Bali.

Thai Airways B787

As Thai Airways is using B787 on Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur route, I decided to make a site trip to Bangkok after my business trip to Kuala Lumpur.

The flight TG417/418 is currently served with B787

 The plane looks like B777 with 3-3-3 configuration in economy with the new economy seat.

The IFE also bigger even compare to A380 and with new remote control which came with the surface touch rather than arrow to navigate

 

I do not like the location of the USD and earphone jack as it can be quite troublesome when you are eating.  

This is the infamous windows.  On route to Bangkok, nothing can be done as it is night flight.   On return flight, my neighbour dim the window.   I understand from the TG cabin crew, they can control this centrally.   I wonder why the FA was still asking passanger to undim the window before take off.

Seat pitch in economy.   I am 180 cm (6") tall for reference.

Toilet look nice with a lot of sensor is being used for water and also to flush the toilet.

When we landed in Bangkok, the plane was not park at the gate, so I have some times to take the picture again at night at BKK.

Both way, the bird was the same, it was HS-TQC.   Here was the plane at BKK
